According to the report "China's Plastic pollution Control Concept and Practice", in 2020, China's plastic consumption will be 90.877 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 12.2%; The annual production of plastic waste in China exceeds 60 million tons. With the change of people's consumption mode, the rapid development of e-commerce, takeout, express delivery and other emerging fields, as well as the pneumonia epidemic caused by novel coronavirus, led to a large increase in the demand for disposable medical and protective supplies, and the production of waste plastics grew rapidly. In order to effectively deal with Plastic pollution, China has comprehensively strengthened the control of Plastic pollution and carried out full chain control.
In January 2020, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Ecological Environment issued the Opinions on Further Strengthening the Treatment of Plastic pollution to promote the treatment of Plastic pollution in China to enter the stage of full chain management.
The revised "Solid Waste Pollution Prevention and Control Law" in 2020 also makes clear provisions for promoting the reduction and recycling of packaging materials.
In September 2021, the National Development and Reform Commission and other departments jointly issued the "Fourteenth Five Year Plan" Plastic pollution Control Action Plan, which comprehensively deployed the key work of Plastic pollution control from 2021 to 2025 in terms of source reduction, scientific substitution, strengthening recycling and transportation, improving the rural plastic waste disposal system, and increasing recycling efforts.
In many years of Plastic pollution control practice, China's Plastic pollution control law and policy system has been constantly improved, the scope and scope of coverage have been constantly expanded, and the control efforts have become increasingly strong, gradually forming a full chain closed-loop management system.
