It is reported that from today on, Ireland began to implement a new garbage recycling policy. From today on, all plastic packaging (including soft plastic: plastic packaging on products - including plastic labels - plastic packaging pillows, bubble wrapping paper, bread wrapping paper and pasta bags) can be put into household recycling bins. The new measures will change residents' habits of garbage recycling.
What are the requirements of the new policy for soft plastic waste recycling?
Starting this week, all licensed garbage collection companies must collect and classify the soft plastic packaging garbage. The recycled plastic garbage needs to be "clean, dry and loose".
The new recycling policy will help Ireland improve the recycling efficiency of plastic products
According to the latest data released by Eurostat, Ireland is the largest producer of plastic waste per capita in the EU, with the recovery rate ranking fourth. The new plan will help Ireland increase the recovery rate of plastic packaging from 31% to 55% by 2030. Waste classification and recycling is an important measure to ensure environmental sustainable development. The new recycling policy will make a positive contribution to Ireland's natural ecological environment.
Pauline McDonogh, a spokesman for mywaste, the official website of Irish waste management guidance, said that allowing soft plastics to enter the green trash can would make household waste isolation more direct.
She said progress had been made in separating different material types in recycling facilities. Recyclable plastics will be sent to special recycling facilities. If they cannot be recycled, they will be sent to cement kilns as solid recycled fuel to replace fossil fuels.
Household heads can now put all plastic packaging waste, including soft plastic, into the recycling bin after cleaning, drying and loosening.
