According to the report from Moscow on February 6 on the MRCHUB website, Repsol, a Spanish energy and petrochemical company, announced an investment of 26 million euros to launch a new recycled plastic production line (Circlex series) in the Puertollano industrial park in Spain.
The new production line is expected to be put into operation in the fourth quarter of 2024, with an annual capacity of 25000 tons of recycled plastics, almost twice the current annual capacity of 16000 tons.
According to the company, the new recycled plastic production line will make the Puertollano Center a benchmark for the recycling economy of the Iberian Peninsula. Repsol said that the new department will generate 200 direct, indirect and induced jobs at different stages of construction, start-up and operation.
The investment will help the company produce hard and soft packaging plastics for non-food purposes, such as cleaning product containers or product packaging bags.
In particular, the new device will process HDPE and LDPE materials with 10% and 80% recycled plastic content.
This investment is in line with the current regulations in Europe and Spain, which are aimed at achieving the goal of 30% recycled plastic packaging by 2030.
