With the strong implementation of water pollution prevention and control actions, the overall water quality of the sea area under jurisdiction has been in a continuous and good state.

The communique systematically introduces typical marine ecosystems, marine nature reserves, coastal wetlands, etc. from the perspective of "macro ecology", and adds marine biodiversity, monitoring of marine rare and endangered organisms, etc. The communique specifically introduced the environmental conditions of marine dumping areas, marine oil and gas areas, bathing beaches, marine fishery waters and other areas. The monitoring data show that green is becoming the background color of high-quality development of marine economy.

In 2021, the Ministry of ecological environment organized the monitoring of marine garbage in 51 regions nationwide. The results showed that plastic was the main type of marine garbage in China. Plastic garbage accounted for 92.9%, 75.9% and 83.3% of floating garbage, beach garbage and seabed garbage respectively. Compared with similar international surveys in recent years, the average density of marine garbage and offshore microplastics in China's coastal waters is at a medium low level.

Wangjuying introduced that the Ministry of ecological environment and the national development and Reform Commission issued the opinions on further strengthening plastic pollution control and the action plan for plastic pollution control during the 14th five year plan to vigorously promote plastic pollution control and reduce the production of marine plastic waste from the source.
