China news service, July 28 (CNN) -- Coca Cola said on the 27th local time that sprite will change the packaging of green plastic bottles to transparent packaging from August 1, ending the 60 year history of green bottles.

According to the report, Coca Cola said that the current bottles contain green polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that cannot be recycled, and the use of transparent bottles can reduce plastic waste.

Julian Ochoa, CEO of Plastics Group r3cycle, said that transparent plastic bottles can be made into new bottles, which will help promote the circular economy of plastics.

The company also said that the new logo and packaging design will also appear on the sprite bottle at that time, aiming to "provide a more consistent appearance and sound around the world", and the green color will still be used on the sprite label.
