It is understood that on July 1, 2020, the Shanghai Market Supervision Bureau entrusted the Shanghai Institute of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Technology to conduct supervision and spot checks on Sephora (Shanghai) Cosmetics Sales Co., Ltd. After testing, it is confirmed that the packaging void ratio of the perfume products sold by the company, such as "Boboli Flower and Her Fragrance Festival Gift Box" and "Gucci Flower Luxury Gift Box", does not meet the national standards and is an over packaged product. On January 21, 2021, the Market Supervision Bureau of Huangpu District ordered corrections in accordance with the law and conducted interviews with relevant production enterprises.
On the afternoon of April 26th, a review meeting was held for the first revision of the national standard "Restriction of Excessive Packaging Requirements for Food and Cosmetics". It was proposed that production organizations should take measures to control the cost of all packaging, except for packaging that directly comes into contact with the contents, to not exceed 20% of the product's sales price.
