With more and more concerns and calls to reduce disposable plastics, more and more cosmetic companies in South Korea began to adopt environmentally friendly packaging - pulp molded packaging.
Earlier this month, cosmetics group amorepacific launched eco-friendly paper packaging, which said it could reduce plastic use by about 70% and last for up to 36 months.
The paper tube container adopts "nano film sealing" technology and will be adopted by its cleaning and beauty brand Primera sometime in the first half of this year as part of the company's sustainable development efforts.
"We are currently developing a paper container to ensure its shelf life and 100% composting, and plan to continue to launch environmentally friendly packaging materials," said park Young Ho, head of amorepacific R & D center
The move was made after the 2030 cosmetic plastic initiative launched by the Korean cosmetics association in January. Companies such as L'Oreal, LG Household & health care and AEKYUNG are also committed to eliminating materials that cannot be recycled before 2030.
The latest data from the Korean Bureau of statistics also pointed out that after the covid-19 pandemic, the recyclable plastic waste in the first three months of last year increased by an average of 9.7% compared with the same period in 2019, and called for the establishment of a sustainable packaging policy.
Against this background, olive young, a health and beauty store, announced on Thursday that it plans to increase the sales of cleaning and beauty products to 100 billion won ($88.9 million) this year by increasing brands and carrying out promotional activities.
